This summer, DC Entertainment will publish all-new stories expanding on the acclaimed Watchmen universe. As highly anticipated as they are controversial, the seven inter-connected prequel mini-series will build on the foundation of the original Watchmen, the bestselling graphic novel of all time. BEFORE WATCHMEN will be the collective banner for all seven titles, from DC Comics.
“It’s our responsibility as publishers to find new ways to keep all of our characters relevant,” said DC Entertainment Co-Publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee. “After twenty five years, the Watchmen are classic characters whose time has come for new stories to be told. We sought out the best writers and artists in the industry to build on the complex mythology of the original.”

“The original series of Watchmen is the complete story that Alan Moore and I wanted to tell. However, I appreciate DC’s reasons for this initiative and the wish of the artists and writers involved to pay tribute to our work. May these new additions have the success they desire,” said Dave Gibbons, WATCHMEN co-creator and original series artist.
“Comic books are perhaps the largest and longest running form of collaborative fiction,” said DiDio and Lee. “Collaborative storytelling is what keeps these fictional universes current and relevant.”
Marvel has just released a teaser for The Avengers commercial that will be aired during the game. If the 17 second teaser trailer is any indication of what is in store for us during Super Bowl fans will be very pleased.
The film is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill.

Continuing his 2012 road show, this weekend, Baltimore Comic-Con promoter Marc Nathan brings the Baltimore Comic-Con to his neighbors to the south -- Northern Virginia! The second show of 2012 he is attending is the Shoff Baseball & Sports Card Shows & Comic Book & Nonsports Card Show this Sunday, January 29th. Matt Nelson of Classics Incorporated will be set up at the New Orleans Wizard Convention next weekend, January 28-29, 2012 at booth #607. He will be sharing a booth with Richard Evans of Bedrock City. Matt will be screening books for pressing, restoration check, removal, and restoration. Pro-screens are $3-$5 per book, which include a restoration check and post-service estimate of grade. Prescreens are $1-$2 per book, and require the submitter to establish his minimum grade for each comic beforehand.
For clients who plan to submit at the show, please create your work order ahead of time on their website, and bring a printout of the work order with your books. They'll enter the Pro-screens into your work order at the show, and then email them to you upon completion. Once you approve the work order at the show, the rejects will be returned to you immediately
